Trooper Jeff Renas coordinated tournament to benefit Special Olympics - (12/26/2009)
EASTVILLE --On Nov. 6-7, Softball Nation, in cooperation with Northampton County Parks and Recreation, sponsored the 2nd annual Softball Tournament, with all proceeds benefiting Special Olympics Virginia and the Law Enforcement Torch Run.
The Friday night tournament featured three games in the "Guns and Hoses" league. Officers from Northampton law enforcement competed against officers from Accomack County law enforcement in the first game, with the win going to Northampton.
The second game featured members from Northampton County fire and rescue against Accomack County fire and rescue members, with the win going to Accomack.
The final championship game was played by the first two winning teams, with Northampton law enforcement taking the title.
The Saturday event featured an all-day double-elimination play among various local organized softball teams, with the championship title being awarded to Organized Chaos of Pocomoke City, Md. The mid-day Home Run Derby was won by Kevin "Beef" Bratten.
