All Members,
The Virginia State Police Association is proud to support
its members by providing a scholarship program for their children.
Contributions from the Association and the general public provide the
money to fund these scholarships. Please find linked to this
document an application
and the required financial aid
form for applying for a VSPA Scholarship.
To be eligible for a scholarship, an applicant must be:

A dependent child of a member in good standing or a
deceased member. The Scholarship fund committee uses the IRS
definition of dependent.

Full time student.
-
Graduate of an accredited public or private high
school or its equivalent and be eligible to enroll at a private or
public institution of higher education.
Scholarships will be awarded subject to the following:

Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of need and
prior academic record;

Awards are for a period not to exceed one academic
year, but recipient are permitted to reapply for as long as they are
eligible.

The number of scholarships awarded each year will be
limited only by the availability of funds.
Important dates to remember for 2008-2009 Applicants:
March
16th -
Applications are available from
the VSPA Office and Web Site
June 2nd -
Application and Financial
Aid forms due in office.
July 2nd -
Official Transcripts due for
process of judging.
Feb. 1st -
Scholarship recipients fall
transcripts due for 2ndpart
of
scholarship (grades from school web site will be
accepted). This
will help the process move faster for
second half of money.
