The Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to memorialize fallen Troopers Henry M. Brooks, Jr., and Henry N. Harmon. Following presentations by Senator Bill Carrico and I the Board voted to name a bridge over Rt. 29 in honor of Trooper Brooks and a bridge over Rt. 57 in honor of Trooper Harmon. Trooper Brooks was hit by a car and died while he was investigating a motor vehicle crash on 6/10/56, while Trooper Harmon died on 2/7/95 as the result of a gunshot wound to his neck on 1/10/60, while arresting a subject for DWI. Several members of the Department attended to support the effort as did Trooper Harmon’s son and his family as well as a number of citizens who live in Pittsylvania.
The VSPA would like to thank the Chair of the Board of Supervisors, Mr. Vic Ingram, who spearheaded the effort to memorialize these Virginia State Police Heroes. Thank you Mr. Ingram!
