The Virginia State Police Association is requesting contributions to the VSPA - Emergency Relief Fund to assist Retired Captain Stephen Childress and his wife Linda.
Their only daughter, Ashley was involved in a serious car accident while in Japan. She was airlifted to a large trauma hospital where she has not regained consciousness. Ashley is also suffering many broken bones and a brain injury; she has been in a coma since the accident. Executive Director, Bill Carrico spoke to Linda about their daughter Ashley. Ashley is married to a suicide prevention counselor for the Marine Corps in Japan.
.
Ashley is alone in a foreign country with only her husband. To say the least, the Childress’ are in a very emotional state of mind and desperate to be with their only child. They are preparing to fly to Japan to be with her today. The cost of this trip will be more than $7,500 but they are forging ahead to pull money together to be with her in fear she will not pull through.
.
The Virginia State Police Association Board of Directors has voted to assist the Childress family with their flight, but we would like to extend an opportunity to you, our members.
