Officer Trey Marshall Sutton, 24, of Chesterfield County was hired in June 2021 and most recently graduated the basic police academy in February 2022. Officer Sutton was currently assigned to the Patrol Bureau, where he was in field training, with his partner.

Two adults remain hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. The crash remains under investigation. The second officer and the male they were transporting remain in the hospital, in critical condition with potentially life-threatening injuries.

“This is a tragedy for everyone, and my thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved. God bless Officer Sutton for his chosen profession - law enforcement and commitment to Henrico County. Sutton was a well-respected member of his recent academy class,” says Chief of Police Eric D. English.
