(President Roy Kyle writes to the men and women of the Virginia State Police Association to express appreciation for their service to and protection of all Virginians during the recent protests and to express concern for the safety and well-being of our members and their families.)
We have watched the horrific scenes of violence and mayhem over the last several days throughout our country and our Commonwealth. Needless to say these scenes are heartbreaking! We have seen police officers across this country, including Virginia State Troopers, clad in their protective gear doing their/your best to contain this violence to protect human life and property. We are well aware that hundreds of you have been on the front lines of this mayhem working countless hours of overtime. We just wanted to take a few minutes to remind ourselves that the vast majority of law abiding Americans support you and appreciate the sacrifices you make every day to protect them, their homes and businesses while at the same time being away from your families and homes. Our jobs are thankless and while, at times, it seems there is little appreciation for what we do, again most law abiding Americans do appreciate it. Please know we also sincerely appreciate each and every one of you and are praying for you and your families during these extremely difficult and unprecedented times. Do not hesitate to let us know what we can do to assist you. With God’s grace our nation and our state will prevail!
